Frequently asked questions
Is there an ad-free plan on 5?
No. 5 has no paid plan without ads: we found none on channel5.com or on its help centre on 27/10/2026. This extension is the only way to skip the ads in the Channel 5 player.
How do I watch Channel 5 without ads?
Install “No Ads for Channel 5” in Chrome on a computer and start a programme on channel5.com. The video ads in the player are skipped to the end, then your programme carries on by itself.
Is the trial really free?
Yes. The first ad break is skipped for free. If you want to carry on, you pay a one-off £4.99 for lifetime access, with no subscription. Otherwise you remove the extension in one click.
How much does the extension cost?
A one-off £4.99, with lifetime access and no subscription. Payment goes through ExtensionPay and Stripe, and you sign in with your email.
Does Channel 5 show an ad-blocker screen?
No. The extension blocks nothing: the ads are skipped to the end, so no anti-ad-blocker screen appears. One only risks appearing if an ad blocker is active on channel5.com.
I use an ad blocker. What should I do?
Turn it off for channel5.com. It stays on everywhere else.
How fast are the ads skipped?
In our test on 27/10/2026, a 30-second ad was skipped, and so was a break of 2 ads (23 seconds). The programme then resumed by itself.
Does it work on a TV, a phone or a set-top box?
No. Only in Google Chrome on a computer (Mac, Windows, Linux, Chromebook).
Is the extension made by Channel 5?
No. Independent extension, not affiliated with Channel 5 Broadcasting. 5 and Channel 5 are trademarks of their owner.
What data is collected?
No browsing data. If you buy, your email and payment go through ExtensionPay and Stripe.
What is a Chrome extension?
A small add-on for the Google Chrome browser. You install it in one click from Google's official store (the Chrome Web Store) and remove it any time in one click from the Chrome menu.
